  • Global Maritime Ministries is looking for people ready to serve on a team in a unique ministry that offers local opportunities for evangelism and missions. We have part time Port Chaplain positions with flexibility on hours available in both New Orleans and Reserve, LA (River Parishes).


    Qualified applicants should:

    • Possess an assurance that God has called them to ministry
    • Be willing and capable of sharing the message of salvation through faith in Christ with others in an effective manner
    • Be dedicated to ministering to people from various backgrounds, cultures, and religions
    • Demonstrate flexibility and a cooperative attitude


    Responsibilities:

    • To visit ships for the purpose of determining how to meet the needs of the seafarers on the ship in order to create witnessing opportunities. The chaplain is to actively seek to lead a Bible study, pray with seafarers, and share a personal witness. Adequate time is to be spent on each ship to ensure that ministry opportunities are used, and an appropriate record of each visit should be kept to assist in follow-up ministry.
    • To minister to port personnel (i.e. truckers, longshoremen, guards, etc.) through Bible studies, personal witnessing, discipleship, and prayer.
    • To lead and participate in carrying out ministry at the center, which meets the needs of seafarers and port personnel. The chaplain will initiate personal witnessing opportunities with individuals and lead groups in devotionals.
    • To work with and encourage volunteers to the ministry.
    • To submit a monthly ministry article for publication.
    • To submit reports of ministry activities
    • To meet monthly with the staff to coordinate ministry.
    • To help maintain the center, vans, and other ministry equipment.

  • Global Maritime Ministries is looking for a Ministry Coordinator to help with ministry administration. This person will act as a first contact for the ministry and assist with answering questions, providing general information, coordinating the calendar, and providing accurate records. This is a full time position based at our New Orleans ministry center.


    Qualified applicants should:

    • Be dedicated to ministering to people from various backgrounds, cultures, and religions
    • Demonstrate flexibility and a cooperative attitude
    • Enjoy meeting and greeting new people in a friendly and outgoing manner
    • Possess a high degree of organizational skills


    Responsibilities:

    • To greet visitors, act as a host, and help meet needs and minister at the center.
    • To answer phones, send thank you notes, ministry information, and correspondence.
    • To keep the ministry calendars updated and accurate with events and reminders.
    • To keep up to date and accurate records of donations and other financial and property gifts.
    • To balance the register and make bank deposits. 6. To check the post office box, mail box, and receive packages.
    • To coordinate, schedule, orient, and supervise, as well as encourage and recognize, volunteers.
    • To update and maintain the ministry website and social media.
    • To submit reports of ministry activities.
    • To meet with the staff to coordinate ministry.
    • To help coordinate seafarer requests.
    • To help maintain the center, vans, and other ministry equipment.

  • Global Maritime Ministries is looking for someone to serve as a Communication Catalyst in amplifying the stories of the port ministry. This is a remote part time position based from our New Orleans ministry center.


    Qualified applicants should:

    • Be dedicated to helping a ministry to people from various backgrounds, cultures, and religions
    • Demonstrate flexibility and a cooperative attitude
    • Possess a high degree of comfort with technology, especially social media platforms
    • Be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite or other design programs
    • Write with exceptional grammar


    Responsibilities:

    • To ensure meaningful and impactful digital communications to amplify the message of our mission.
    • To design and deploy communications with impactful images and writing.
    • To develop a consistent voice for the organization through digital messages and responses to comments.
    • To work in collaboration with our staff to gather ministry pictures and stories.
    • To maintain a schedule for digital communications.
    • To monitor social media platforms and quickly respond and engage in conversations.
    • To identify opportunities to promote our mission.
    • To help set goals for increased reach and engagement online.
